I thinks that every single round in your burst goes with its own chance to hit being calculated, which means some of these six bullets fired in a single burst from 10mm SMG could miss unless you're standing on an adjacent hex. Higher small guns skill would surely help as well as higher PER.

Great review @markmorgan, agreed wholeheartedly. This is exactly how my first playthrough looked like! Resurrection can be very ungrateful bitch, collecting all your good intentions patiently in order to slap you right in the face with it in the end-slides.

Yep, that's not explained directly in-game. As we find out later, Benicio is not working alone, so I'm guessing he send one of his party members as a fast messenger to the city. Or he just pulled out 2043B radio and contacted his employer about the arrangement in the moment you've left his room.

I think that this depends solely on the route chosen.
Sedit - New Hope spawns the most easy encounters, often just a bunch of rats or radscropions.
Sedit - Corath seems to be tougher, with groups of raiders mostly.
Sedit - Albu is nothing but pure hell with all the fun mentioned by Agris.
