odd bug with work around

Post by c_hieter »

so i was grinding away building levels.
i then noticed that instead of 600 points for 6 ghouls, i was getting 300.
for 3 ghouls i was getting 200 points.
all other critters were giving less points also.
so i saved and closed the program.
when i restarted everything was as it should be.

a minor thing, but i just thought i would let folks know.
like a lot of things in life, the small stuff drops the biggest turds.

Are you sure? That really sounds odd. Various ghouls can give different XP reward for killing them. Are you sure you were killing the same ghouls after load? Where and who exactly did you fought?
Anyway, every critter has set XP reward for killing that we don't change during the game. That would have to be original Fallout 2 bug or Sfall bug.

when i first noticed it i was doing circles around Albuquerque killing ghouls.
killed 6 and got 300 points.
i thought maybe a few got into ghoul crossfire and died.
the next battle (6 ghouls), all clean shots by me, 300 points.
loaded with loot i headed to sedit to go grocery shopping.
about midway to sedit, a 3 ghoul battle, 200 points.
next battle was a bunch geckos that i usually get around 700 and something points and it seemed like less, but i dont remember how many points.
thats when i closed the game and re-started.
another group of 3 ghouls and 300 points.
made it to sedit and headed back to Albuquerque.
every battle was fine point wise.

i guess i should of made you a save point, but i didnt.
if it happens again i will do so.
the only mod to my original F2 is the restoration project.

maybe other folks haven't noticed it because once the program is restarted, the problem goes away.
or maybe i am in the early stages of Alzheimer's or mad cow.
and with only having one head (on my shoulders), i am hosed.

Do you ever save/load during combat? It sounds like the game is forgetting some of the creatures you've killed, and there's a lot of bugs surrounding save/load during combat. It should be disabled by default in sfall, imo.

Saving in combat is disabled except at the start of your turn. That's the default, although it can be set to disable saving in combat completely. But that would be too hardcore.
