Hi i can't seem to get the game to run. it either says fallout 2.exe has stopped working or it won't load. I have tried running the game as an administrator and reinstalling the game numerous times. Any advice would come in handy>

Hi, it could help to know more:

What operation system do you have?
What version of Fallout 2 do you have (GOG, Steam, ?)
Do you have english version of Fallout 2?
Isn't possible that your antivirus is preventing the game from running?

Try the usual things:
Install DirectX 9 from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=8109
Try various graphics modes in the Configuration Program or windowed mode.
Try compatibility mode set to WinXP or Win98

Do you have any screen recording software running in background by chance? This might be a problem too as it seems:

I must say I'm running out of the ideas in this case. Do you have other mods installed in Fallout 2? Maybe new clean installation of Fallout would help. Or at least try to verify integrity of game cache in Steam.
Have you installed Resurrection using the installer or the archive?

Something tells me you forgot to specify paths to dat-files in fores.cfg :)
For reasons unknown it set to parent folder by default. Deleting symbols "../" should be enough. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if you specify full path.

Links in fores.cfg are set as they should be. Why would you change that? Of course, Resurrection needs to be installed into Fallout 2 root directory, so path to fores.cfg is Fallout 2\Resurrection\fores.cfg
Which links are wrong according to you?

Here's some lines from original fores.cfg(from archive):

Code: Select all

music_path1=..\data\sound\music\
music_path2=..\sound\music\
critter_dat=..\critter.dat
master_dat=..\master.dat
It's as wrong as it gets. "..\" means PARENT folder.
For instance,if you have your game installed to C:\Games\Resurrection\, the game will look for dat-files in "C:\Games\". If it's the case, you'll find "master.dat" and "critter.dat" folders in parent folder, the game automatocally create it.

PS Oh, I see. It should be installed with Resurrection folder. Well, that's not what I did, I simply extracted it's content to the root folder. Yeah, RTFM, I know. My bad.
PPS It works anyway. :)

Resurrection is modification for Fallout 2. You have to install it into Fallout 2 folder and it needs files from original Fallout 2. That's why there're paths to parent folder - It expects parent folder being Fallout 2 where are the files master.dat and critter.dat. You won't find these files in Resurrection folder.

EDIT: Yes, I geuss that way it can work too, but it was unnecessary extra work for you :-)
